Joe Borchard

Born: November 28th, 1978 in Panorama City, California

Joe graduated from Camarillo High School after a stunning three-sport career in Football, Basketball and Baseball. As a senior in Football he was the Scorpions MVP, the Marmonte League MVP and his team was the CIF champion. He was both the L.A. Times Player of the Year and CIF Player of the Year. As a quarterback he threw for a career 6,064 yards and his fifty-one touchdown passes was a Camarillo H.S. record.

In Baseball that year, he was the Marmonte League MVP, an All CIF selection and the L.A. Times Player of the Year. Joe accepted a dual Baseball/Football scholarship to Stanford University where he earned a B.A. in History. At Stanford he played Football for three seasons.

He was a quarterback on a PAC 10 Championship team and played against Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.

In Baseball Joe played in two College World Series, was an All-American three times, All PAC 10 three times and was the twelfth pick in the first round of the 2000 Baseball draft. He was selected by the Chicago White Sox and was given a 5.3 million dollar signing bonus.

As a professional he played for eleven years in the White Sox, Seattle Mariners and Florida Marlins organizations. Some highlights of his minor league career include being the MVP of the Southern League All Star game, being selected to the Topps Minor League All Star team and playing for the Team USA which won a silver medal in the 2001 World Cup in Taipei. He is the Charlotte Knights all-time leader in hits, home runs and RBIs. As a major leaguer he hit a home run in his second at bat in the big leagues. Joe also hit the longest home run in US Cellular Field history (504 feet). In 2006 he led the Florida Marlins in pinch hits.

He retired from professional Baseball in 2011. Joe lives in Charlotte North Carolina with his wife Erin and children, Ellie and Charlie. He works as a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual.

Trish Kimble-Butterbaugh

Born: November 24th, 1970 in Ventura, California

Trish Butterbaugh was captain of the Buena Bulldogs twice and MVP of the Channel League twice. In 1988, her team won the CIF Championship and she was the CIF Player of the Year. She was also Buena’s Athlete of the Year.

At UCSB, Trish was a Division 1 All Far West Player of the Year and third on the Gaucho’ s all-time scoring list. She has been an Olympic development Player, a Western Regional Player, a member of the Southern California State team and played semi-professional soccer for various other teams. One other very notable achievement was that in 1986, she was the MVP of Buena’ s Boys JV team.

It is difficult to encompass the myriad success of Trish’s coaching career. She started as an assistant at UCSB, then at Ventura College. She was head Coach at Camarillo High School before moving home to Buena in 1997.

Congruently she coached youth teams for Southern California United, the California Eagles, the Millennium and the Southern California Blues. She has taken teams to the semi-finals of the State Cup and won the Nike Invitational Championship. She has been active in Soccer Direct camps and as an Amateur Athletic Foundation instructor. However the apex of her success has been at Buena High School.

Her teams have won Channel League Championships an amazing sixteen times in a row. She has taken them to the CIF Finals five times, winning four championships. She has been L.A. Times Coach of the Year, Western regional Coach of the Year and CIF Coach of the Year four times.

Administratively , she has been a member of the CIF Soccer Advisory Committee for nine years. Trish and her husband Todd live in Ventura raising their children Tanner and Taylin.

Richard O. Endres

Born: April 15th, 1953 in Inglewood, California

Rich moved to Ventura County in 1976 and began coaching Baseball and Basketball at both Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks High Schools. He has been the Head Lancer Boys Varsity Coach for sixteen years compiling a record of 315-119 to present. His teams have won eight Marmonte League Championships and he has been selected Marmonte League Coach of the Year six times. The Lancers went to the CIF Finals three times winning in 2009.

Rich has been L.A. Times Coach of the Year, Valley Sports Foundation “Battle of the Valley All Star Coach”, Ventura County Coach of the Year three times and Division 2 AA CIF Coach of the Year.

Rich has truly worked with young people all his life. For twenty-five years he was the owner of a children’ s summer camp called “Kids Camp” as well as his thirty-five year teaching career.

His hobby is collecting antique clocks and he also enjoys both gardening and fly fishing.

Rich lives in Moorpark with his wife, Michelle, where they have raised their children Eric and Brittany.

Roman Fortin

Born: February 26th, 1967 in Columbus Ohio

Roman moved to Ventura in 1970 and was the starting quarterback at Ventura High School for three years.

He was recruited by Oregon State and was moved to tight end.

Roman transferred to San Diego State University where he played tackle, center and guard. He earned All WAC Conference honors as a senior and was on the WAC All Academic team as both a junior and senior. He holds a degree in Accounting.

Roman was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1990. He played one year for Detroit, six years for the Atlanta Falcons and three years for the San Diego Chargers. He played in one hundred and forty-seven NFL games before retiring in 2000. In Atlanta he played all five offensive line positions as well as tight end and blocking fullback in short yardage situations.

Roman met his wife, Kathleen, at an eighth grade Pop Warner Football game in Ventura, where she was a cheerleader . They reside in Atlanta where they are raising their five children- Roman Jr., Dillon, Simone, Bradon and Turner.

Roman is part owner of the Forum Athletic Club and supervises an apartment complex near the Hartsfield Airport.

Marty Lythgoe

Born: June 4th, 1948 in Ventura, California

As a junior at Ventura, Marty played on a team that was 24-5 winning both the Beverly Hills and the Fillmore Tournaments. He was chosen to the All-Tournament teams and the All-Channel League team.

When he was a senior and the only returning letterman, the Cougars went 22-5. They were second in the Beverly Hills Tournament, won the inaugural Ventura Kiwanis Tournament and came first in a strong Channel League. Marty was on the Beverly Hills All-Tournament team, MVP of the Kiwanis Tournament, Channel League Player of the Year and All-CIF.

He averaged twenty-one points a game and was team captain.

In 1965 Marty accepted a Basketball scholarship to Brigham Young University and was a three-year starter in a time when freshmen were ineligible for varsity ball. As a sophomore his Cougars tied for the WAC Championship but lost the play-off game to enter the thirty-two team NCAA Tournament.

During the summer he represented the State Department playing games in Korea, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti.

As a junior he was All Tournament in the Oklahoma City College Tournament and All-Conference WAC averaging fourteen points a game.

As a senior, his team won the WAC and he was selected to the WAC All-Conference team and again averaged fourteen points per game.

Marty is currently Program Director and co-founder of the Genesis Program, an outpatient addiction treatment program.

He is a board member of Coastline Christian Counseling, where he has a private counseling practice. Marty and his wife Laura live in Oxnard. They have two children Matt Elkins and Amy Elkins.
